Printed Fabrics
Printed upholstery fabrics are making a comeback as homeowners are looking to add color and texture to their living spaces. The world’s top furniture design and manufacturing companies are focusing on design that incorporates large, multi-colored prints into everyday furniture pieces, such as chairs, sofas, and ottomans. Decorating with printed upholstery is nothing new to the world of interior design and decorating. 1955, world-renowned home architect and interior designer, Frank Lloyd Wright, combined his expertise in architecture with his mastery of aesthetics to create the Taliesin Line, a series of printed textiles that complemented his Heritage-Henredon Furniture Company furniture line. At the time, Wright’s printed textile designs were considered too radical for the average family’s home. Now, however, many of Wright’s textile designs are admired and widely incorporated into homes around the world. Many of the most popular contemporary fabrics feature designs that incorporate between two to seven colors in repeating patterns and overlapping, collage-style formats. |
